What I like about Como Park Zoo & Conservatory

Ponderosa Pine

Have you traveled through or visited Minneapolis or St. Paul, Minnesota? If you have, did you visit the Como Park Zoo & Conservatory?

I live about one and a half hours north of this very magnificent place. It is located in St. Paul, MN, and is a treat to visit. It is a great place to take the family and spend a day.

My favorite part of the park is the Marjorie McNeilly Conservatory and the Charlotte Partridge Ordway Japanese Garden. Yes, the animals are great to observe, but the plants, gardens, and green space are what get me coming back every year.

Here are a couple videos from their website showing off the Bonsai Pavilion and the Japanese garden.

I love strolling through the Japanese Garden. I have seen three other Japanese Gardens, two of them in different states, and by far, this Japanese Garden is my favorite.
I think what I like best about this garden than the others I have visited are the paths. I love walking over the stone bridge and onto the tortoise island. I had no idea that the island was in the shape of a tortoise, but now I love it more.

Of all my years living in Minnesota, I have not yet visited their Orchid show. I need to do that this year. If you have not visited this amazing place, you must do so next time you are in town. Come early as parking gets tough.

One last thing before I show you some images of the bonsai. If you get a chance, the Minnesota Bonsai Society holds a show every year on the weekend of Mothers Day.

I took these images in 2016. I really need to get some new photos.
